As a College we are very well resourced in the area of Information and Communication Technology. We have 7 computer laboratories, including a multi-purpose Keyboard Lab in our St Gertrude’s Music Centre. Five trolleys of notebooks can be moved into any classroom and there are 6 additional pods of notebooks accessible in various teaching and learning spaces. That makes a total of 120 notebooks to support flexible learning. Our school is extensively networked using cable and wireless technology. Students in R-12 are able to access shared directories, the internet, network delivered videos, printing and photocopiers.
In addition, students in 6-12 have access to email accounts. The girls are able to use the school learning portal from home. There is approximately 1 computer / notebook for every 2 girls if all students wished to access a computer at exactly the same time. The school has also installed 12 interactive whiteboards strategically across learning areas in the Junior and Senior campuses. Students are able to use digital still and video cameras, voice recorders, tablets and robotics to further support and challenge their learning. Use of privately owned equipment Students are permitted to bring in a variety of their own equipment for educational use provided that they adhere to the various policies that are listed below. Some important things to note are as follows:
• The College IT Department does not provide support for Apple Computers. They may be used but will not be connected to the Loreto network.
• Personal devices may not access the internet without using the monitored Loreto College internet connection. As a result of this, products that have access to the internet but do not pass through the College system are not permitted.
