Boarding at Loreto is an enriching experience where life-long friendships are born.
Loreto College, Marryatville, is the only all-girls Catholic Boarding School in Adelaide. The boarding precinct is home to approximately 60 girls from Adelaide, country South Australia, interstate, and overseas.
Our Boarding House caters for students in Years 7 to 12 as either full-time or weekly Boarders. Weekly Boarding provides the capacity for students who might live in the regional areas of Adelaide to return home to their families on weekends.
Boarding School life provides the opportunity to establish life-long friendships and enables each student to develop qualities of resourcefulness, leadership, and maturity. In the Boarding School, students are encouraged to develop initiative and self-reliance and to act both independently and responsibly. The daily routine greatly assists girls in their academic studies, with set times allocated for after-school study, dining and free time every day.
Boarders are cared for by senior staff and assistants who understand and are empathetic to the needs of young people. The senior girls take much care in ensuring the younger students feel a sense of belonging to the Boarding family. A ‘Little Sister’ program provides a caring relationship between older and younger students, particularly when they are new to the boarding house and need that extra care through orientation.
Parents have the opportunity to be involved in the Boarder Parent Support Group.
The Loreto Boarding precinct, set on the magnificent Karrawood site, provides a warm and inviting ‘home away from home’ for our boarding students.
Two separate houses form the Boarding School with a combination of contemporary designed accommodation and community areas suited to each age group.
Each purpose-built space is designed to best facilitate communal living, while providing privacy for the girls. The original Karrawood House has been refurbished to accommodate brand new kitchen facilities, main dining and common areas; providing an ideal space for all our Boarders to come together for meals and activities.
Living within the College grounds, Boarders have access to all school facilities including the gymnasium and fitness studio (consisting of a cardio and weights room), netball and tennis courts and music centre.
Our students are always on the go, so providing the right nutrition to ensure they perform at their best is vital.
Our internal catering team is led by a Head Chef, who previously worked for the InterContinental Adelaide (formerly the Hyatt Hotel). Our chef takes pride in developing delicious seasonal menus with variety and high nutritional value; particular dietary requirements are also met.
The girls share breakfast, lunch and dinner together in the dining area and enjoy wholesome, filling and nutritious meals, made fresh on site from quality food suppliers. Fresh fruit, salads and vegetables are provided every day.
