Our strategic objectives: to be a future looking school and a school of choice and excellence, continue to drive all decisions we make as a College from capital works to educational programs. In achieving these outcomes, I am pleased to report that the College has delivered every initiative that was outlined in Directions 2017-2018, as communicated to the community last year. The aim of this new Directions 2018-2019 document is to bring you up to date with projects completed as well as outline our future directions for the next 12 months.
Our Strategic Plan articulates our Strategic Goals in the following way:
Learning: We use evidence to drive best practice and a process of continuous learning
Wellbeing: We understand that student and staff wellbeing facilitates optimum learning conditions
Innovation: We embrace the process of discovery and look for ways to be innovative and creative
Community: We acknowledge the importance of community and our place within a local and global context
Mission: We understand our social responsibility to the world through thought, action, and Catholic values
These goals and objectives ensure that Loreto College is a strategically thinking school. We are not content with being just good enough; our aim is to continually grow from our great foundations to ensure that we keep producing young women of exceptional calibre who will make a difference, in whatever way or form, to their world and for the betterment of society.
The next 12 months will see many additional initiatives put into place to support our students. These include the implementation of the new Loreto Education Model as well as the innovative SEAD (Social, Emotional and Academic Development) Program. In addition to these initiatives, other changes will include new positions that support student wellbeing and academic care, a focus on enrichment opportunities, and practices to ensure the holistic tracking of students.
It is with great excitement that we also communicate the plans for the Old Scholars’ Science Centre which will commence construction later this year. This long-awaited project will deliver an innovative facility for the teaching of Science and will be accessible to all students R-12.
As a self-reflexive school, we never stop assessing how we can deliver the best educational outcomes for your daughters. I am confident that the initiatives outlined in this document will add great benefit to your daughters’ education at Loreto for many years to come.
