Building Fund – preservation of the Acacias Building – Tax deductible
The Loreto Sisters voyaged to Australia in 1875 to set up the first Loreto school in Ballarat, Victoria. 30 years later they ventured to Adelaide to establish a girls’ school in South Australia upon the advice of Mother Mary MacKillop. After founding the first school site in Norwood in 1905, the opportunity to purchase the deceased estate of Sir Edwin Smith arose in 1920 and the Loreto Sisters seized the opportunity to establish Loreto in its current magnificent Marryatville home at The Acacias. Loreto College Marryatville is now one of six girls’ schools in Australia and part of a global network of Loreto schools.
As custodians of The Acacias, we recognise the need to preserve this heritage building for future generations and all funds raised will contribute to preservation projects over the coming year.
Scholarship Fund – Gonzaga Barry Bursaries – Tax deductible
Mother Gonzaga Barry ibvm was the foundress of Loreto Education in Australia. Her passion for girls’ education had a significant influence on the development of education across Australia. The Gonzaga Barry bursaries offer a place for girls whose families otherwise could not afford a Loreto education.
