Helen McCabe and Jess Adamson were both boarders at Loreto College Marryatville, with McCabe proudly serving as school captain in 1985. In celebrating the College’s rich history with current parents, old scholars and the community, Loreto College is thrilled to welcome Libby Kosmala (Richards) to the event. A proud member of the Class of 1959, Kosmala will be one of the most senior old scholars in attendance. At 82, Kosmala has received a Medal of the Order (OAM) and represented Australia at the Paralympics 12 times. She holds the record for the highest number of Paralympic Games attended by a single athlete.
On reflecting on her time at Loreto College, Kosmala shares, “I was the only person with an obvious disability at Loreto at that time and I always loved going to school. It was a positive experience and l didn’t want to leave.”
Loreto College Principal, Ms Kylie McCullah, shared her excitement about the event:
“The Acacias Ball is a significant occasion for our community, marking 120 years of Loreto education in South Australia. We are thrilled to have Hugh return to celebrate this milestone with us. His presence and performance will make the evening even more special for our parents, staff, old scholars, and the wider Loreto community.
It is also an honour to welcome Libby Kosmala (Richards), a true trailblazer whose achievements exemplify the strength, resilience, and spirit of Loreto women. This event is not only a celebration of our past but a tribute to the incredible individuals who continue to shape our legacy.”
The Acacias Ball will bring together staff, families, old scholars, and supporters for an evening of elegance, entertainment, and community spirit. This year’s event will not only honour the College’s legacy but also celebrate its ongoing commitment to educating strong, passionate and confident girls and young women.
