At Loreto College, we understand the importance of music education in the development of a child’s creative and analytical skills.

The Music Program at Loreto offers a diverse and engaging experience in music performance and music studies for all children from Early Learning through to Year 12, including Elective Music in Years 9 and 10 and SACE Stage 1 and 2. Our purpose-built facilities include a professional theatre and Music Studio.

Curriculum Immersion Programs

The College provides a number of Immersion Programs, available in the following year levels:

  • Reception to Year 1: Boomwhackers
  • Year 2: Recorders
  • Year 3: Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass)
  • Year 4: Xylophones and Percussion (Orff Instruments)
  • Year 5: Concert Band (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet and Trombone)
  • Year 6: Voice (Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir)
  • Year 7: Making Music
  • Year 8: Musical Theatre

Performing Arts

Exciting events include our annual Performing Arts Festival and biennial Cabaret. The Musical Theatre program thrives at the College and includes a rotation of ELC to Year 2, Year 5 to Year 6 and Senior School musicals. Other opportunities for music performance include the Generations in Jazz and the Catholic Schools Music Festivals. In addition to this, students can showcase their musical talents at our College concerts, assemblies, and other events and functions.

Both Junior and Senior School students are able to participate in the following Ensemble Groups throughout the year:

Junior School

Senior School

  • Senior Choir (Years 7 to 12)

Individual tuition in voice and instrumental studies is offered on campus by professional Music Tutors for Reception to Year 12 students.
