Principal's Book Club

Wednesday 28 August
Student Common Room, Loreto College

The Principal's Book Club hosted by Dr Nicole Archard, is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community to engage in an insightful and informative discussion of the current texts that may have implications upon you daughter's education and well-being. Each Book Club will take place in the Year 12 Common Room. All are welcome and please bring a plate to share.

The next book on the list is:

Untangled: Guiding Teenage Girls through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood by Dr Lisa Damour. The author has identified seven well defined developmental transitions that girls experience as they move to womanhood. The stages include; Parting with Childhood, Contending with Adult Authority, Entering the Romantic World, and Caring for Herself. Parents are provided with a broad framework for understanding their daughters while addressing their most common questions, including:

  • My thirteen-year-old rolls her eyes when I try to talk to her, and only does it more when I get angry with her about it. How should I respond?
  • Do I tell my teen daughter that I’m checking her phone?

Parents are assisted to understand, connect, and support their daughter's as they grow into happy thriving women in today's society.
