‘Creativity takes courage’ – Henri Matisse
When we last gathered in 2019 to celebrate Loreto springART, we were not to know the challenges that lay in front of us and the implication that we would not meet again until 2022. However, it is with courage, strength, and a good dose of community that we gather here again to celebrate some of South Australia’s finest artists. We sincerely thank the artists as well as our sponsors for enabling Loreto springART to once again come to life in a celebration of art, community, and South Australia. Dr Nicole Archard – Principal
Created 38 years ago, the annual Loreto springART Exhibition has become one of South Australia’s most high profile local art events. Loreto springART has showcased established and emerging South Australian artists since 1984, encompassing classical, contemporary, indigenous art and sculpture. It has grown to have an atmosphere evocative of the Adelaide Festival / Fringe scene. It is a calendar highlight for many South Australians who love art; spread over three days to mark the beginning of spring. This year, the event will be held from Friday 9 September to Sunday 11 September.
It will be launched on the Friday night with a cocktail party with Dr Nicole Archard, Principal of Loreto College to officially open the event. The exhibition incorporates more than 200 works and the Friday night launch party usually heralds a tightly fought contest for the most popular works. More than 2000 people come to view the exhibition over the three days, with over 400 people flooding through the doors on opening night alone. The exhibition offers a plethora of sponsorship and promotional opportunities for South Australian businesses. The following pages outline details of key program events we hope you will be inspired to think of new and creative ways to share in the event’s success.
